Scala – Atrani
The route takes the visitor through a comfortable walk to rediscover several points of interest of the Amalfi Coast area. Starting from Scala, in fact, it is possible to admire architecture masterpieces built in the period of great prosperity of the Duchy of Amalfi, from the crypt of the Scala Cathedral, where the Gothic lines of the tomb of the wife of Antonio Coppola, Marinella Rufolo mixes with the Nordic influences of the deposition on the main altar. Going down the stairs that flank the Dragone stream from above, you can still see the remains of old mills, some of which have been transformed into houses in the modern era with only a few features of their ancient use, as well as others which still show their ancient outside water conveying systems. Once in Atrani, you immerse yourself in the urban center with its whitewashed alleys and some votive shrines that represent the religious sense of the area but above all you arrive at the sea.
Once arrived to Scala by public means of transport, it is necessary to walk along some steps which depart from the area in front of S. Alfonso Grotto and bring to the branch road with another shortcut which ends in Atrani near S. Maria del Carmine Church. From here you can walk along urban streets of the municipality.
