Palazzo Ferrajoli della Fontana

MUNICIPALITY: S. Egidio del Monte Albino
NAME: Palazzo Ferrajoli della Fontana
LOCATION: 40°43’59.95 “N/14°36’17.10 “E

DESCRIPTION: The palace named after a branch of the Ferrajoli family incorporates an earlier structure owned by the Desiderio family, dating from the 16th century. It is placed around a central courtyard. On the ground floor are what were originally intended to be rooms in which to store provisions or products that were to be commercialized. The structure reveals numerous superfetations that highlight its long building life. Numerous infills (tompagnature*) suggest that the ground floor originally had a portico. A columned terrace marks the second floor on the side opposite the main entrance. In the courtyard, there is a slab from the Roman period, found in a garden owned by the family.

SEE, VISIT, FIND: During the year, the central courtyard is used for cultural events.
